This happens because trading doesnt reward being “right” — it rewards consistency over time.
A trader can follow a solid strategy and still lose on individual trades. Thats normal. Markets work on probabilities, not guarantees. Losses are part of the process, even when everything is done correctly. This is why judging performance trade-by-trade often leads to frustration.
On the other hand, some traders make money while doing things “wrong” because the market temporarily rewards their mistakes. Overleveraging works during strong trends. Ignoring risk looks smart until the one trade that doesn‘t come back. That’s not skill — its timing and luck.
The real difference is risk management. Two traders can take the same entry, but the one risking less survives long enough for their edge to play out. Markets dont care about analysis — they care about how well risk is controlled.
Time horizon matters too. Disciplined traders think in batches of trades. Undisciplined traders judge success one trade at a time. That‘s why disciplined traders can feel like they’re “doing everything right” and still losing, while reckless traders feel confident after a few wins.
This is also why many traders practice on demo accounts first — to understand execution, risk, and behavior without emotional pressure.
In short, doing things right keeps you in the game.
Doing things wrong can work — but usually only for a while.
