From my research and direct review of Firstrade’s official offerings, I have not found any leverage being provided for major forex pairs—or, for that matter, any forex pairs at all. In my experience as a trader, brokers that cater to active forex participants typically make their leverage ratios quite clear, as leverage is a key piece of information for risk management and strategy planning. However, Firstrade operates primarily as an online brokerage for U.S. stocks, ETFs, options, and mutual funds. Forex trading, along with assets such as commodities, indices, bonds, and cryptocurrencies, is not supported by Firstrade. For those assets Firstrade does offer—namely U.S. equities, ETFs, options, and mutual funds—traditional leverage as understood in the forex context doesn’t apply. There is no mention of margin trading or leveraged products akin to what one would see with specialized forex brokers. This distinction is important because leveraged products exponentially increase both the profit potential and the risk of loss, requiring careful oversight by regulated entities. Given Firstrade’s lack of recognized regulation (as noted in their broker profile), the absence of leveraged services could be interpreted as a reflection of both business model limitations and a lack of necessary oversight. For me, the fact that Firstrade does not offer leverage—or indeed, forex trading at all—means it is not suitable for anyone seeking exposure to leveraged currency markets. My advice is to select brokers that are regulated and fully transparent about their leverage frameworks, especially in the forex space.
