In my personal experience navigating RBC Direct Investing, I’ve found that immediate withdrawals are not truly a feature of their payment methods. RBC, as a reputable and tightly regulated Canadian brokerage, understandably emphasizes security and regulatory compliance, which can affect withdrawal speed. While funds can move swiftly between RBC accounts internally, external withdrawals (such as to another bank or via wire transfer) almost always require standard processing times that may take one to several business days. For example, wire transfers within Canada or the U.S. come with a $45 fee and are not processed instantly. This is consistent with what I expect from major banking institutions focused on investor protection and proper anti-money laundering procedures. If immediate access to withdrawn funds is a critical requirement for your trading strategy, in my experience, it’s essential to factor in these processing times and plan your liquidity needs accordingly. I have not encountered an option at RBC Direct Investing that enables genuinely instantaneous withdrawals to an external account. For me, this is a reasonable trade-off considering the platform’s regulatory oversight and the secure handling of client assets, but it may not suit every trader’s needs.
