In my own experience evaluating brokers, the range of available trading instruments matters a lot, especially for managing risk and diversifying strategies. At Standard Bank, I found that they offer access to a substantial variety of tradable products. Specifically, I could trade CFDs, ETFs, indices, forex, shares, and metals through their proprietary Webtrader platform. This breadth is noteworthy, as it covers many of the essential asset classes used by serious traders and investors for building a well-rounded portfolio. However, I would emphasize that Standard Bank does not provide trading in cryptocurrencies, options, or bonds. For me, having no access to cryptocurrencies or a full suite of derivatives limits certain tactical approaches, especially as crypto-related volatility can present unique opportunities. On the positive side, the inclusion of stocks, ETFs, and metals—alongside forex and indices—enables a fair amount of flexibility for most strategies. Still, I urge cautious consideration, as diversification alone does not compensate for the broker’s lack of regulation and transparency. The absence of regulatory oversight means that, despite the impressive offering of over 20,000 instruments, I personally view the risks as elevated compared to fully-regulated firms. Overall, Standard Bank delivers in terms of product range, but this must be weighed against the need for safety of funds and clear operational integrity.
