Instead, as the largest investment trust manager in Japan, they are primarily regulated under Japan’s Financial Services Agency for institutional and investment trust management activities. This generally means their main focus is on fund management, fixed income, and multi-asset strategies rather than offering speculative trading products with publicized spreads for retail forex traders. That said, from what I could assess, if Nomura were to provide forex trading or managed forex exposure through its investment vehicles, the spread conditions would likely be variable. This is standard practice in most institutional settings, especially when trading is done within pooled funds or portfolios rather than through retail trading interfaces. In my experience, variable spreads are susceptible to widening during times of high market volatility or during significant news releases, which is common across the industry. The rationale is that liquidity providers and market makers adjust spreads to manage risk under volatile conditions. However, as a client or investor rather than a direct trader with Nomura Asset Management, any changes in spread would be reflected in the overall performance or costs of the fund, not in real-time trading conditions. For traders seeking direct control and transparency in spread conditions—especially those who require fixed or tight variable spreads around economic events—I would recommend clarifying this with Nomura’s representatives or considering platforms designed solely for retail forex trading. As always, ensuring the broker's regulatory status and fee transparency remains my top priority before committing any capital.
