As someone who spends considerable time assessing brokers before entrusting them with my capital, I approached AMTD with particular caution. Unfortunately, from my research and experience, AMTD’s transparency on trading conditions—spreads in particular—is deeply lacking. Nowhere in their available public materials is it clearly stated whether they offer fixed or variable spreads for forex products. For me, this absence of clarity is a notable red flag because reliable brokers usually disclose such core information upfront. Given the documented concerns around AMTD’s unverified regulatory claim and the fact that WikiFX has classified their licenses and business scope as “suspicious,” I would be especially wary during periods of heightened market volatility. My years in the market have taught me that, if spreads are variable—and not transparently disclosed—traders may encounter drastically widened spreads during news events, often leading to unexpected costs or slippage. This lack of specificity from AMTD regarding spread mechanics not only makes risk management difficult, but also impedes informed decision-making. Without robust and verifiable details, and considering the reports of withdrawal issues from other users, I cannot recommend relying on AMTD for trading during major news events. A conservative approach would be to look for brokers with a history of transparency, consistent regulatory oversight, and a clear, published spread policy. For me, those are baseline requirements for safeguarding both capital and peace of mind.
