When reviewing Mashreq, my main concern is the absence of transparent regulation, but regarding inactivity fees specifically, I did a thorough review of their published fee schedules and account conditions. Based on the available information, Mashreq outlines various charges for account maintenance, low balances, transactions, and even account closure within the first six months, but I could not find any explicit mention of an inactivity fee assessed solely for not trading or transacting over a prolonged period. Instead, the cost structure emphasizes monthly minimum average balance requirements—for example, a fall below fee of AED 21 if a current account dips under AED 3,000. This creates an indirect financial obligation to stay active or maintain sufficient funds, which traders like me must consider seriously. While this isn’t the same as a classic “inactivity fee” charged for dormancy, it can function similarly if the account is neglected. Given Mashreq’s unregulated status and generally high-risk profile, I would remain cautious: policies can change, and terms might evolve without notice. For me, keeping a regular check on official notices and my account standing is essential when using a broker with this kind of fee structure and regulatory status.
